SafeHaven Baby Box Initiative
Every child deserves a chance at life — and every parent in crisis deserves a safe, compassionate option. In that spirit, Callaway County EMS is proud to lead the initiative to establish a Safe Haven Baby Box within our community. This essential project will provide a secure, anonymous, and medically monitored way for a parent to safely surrender their newborn under Missouri’s Safe Haven Law.

A SafeHaven Baby Box allows a parent in crisis to place their infant in a temperature-controlled, alarm-secured compartment that immediately alerts emergency personnel. Within moments, the infant will be cared for by trained professionals, ensuring a loving and protected future.

The cost of a SafeHaven Baby Box is $16,000 to $20,000 which includes the box and the installation. Any funds raised above this amount will be used to maintain the Baby Box.

Why This Matters

-
Ensures that no infant is ever placed at risk because a parent felt they had no safe option.
-
Provides peace of mind to families and the community, knowing that caring professionals stand ready.
-
Affirms our community’s values of compassion, dignity, and support when it is needed most.
How You Can Help
We are seeking community partners, local businesses, service organizations, faith groups, and individual donors who believe in protecting the most vulnerable among us. Your support — whether through financial contributions, in-kind assistance, or public advocacy — will help raise the necessary funds to install, maintain, and operate the Safe Haven Baby Box in Callaway County.

Together, we can demonstrate that when a family faces its darkest hour, Fulton, and Callaway County light the way with hope.
